About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso amethyst purple, pink, blue Italian art glass sculptural decorative bowl. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950s-1960. The bowl has a ripple surface rim, with sculptural elements on the outside of the bowl. The outside blue layer has a hint of opalescent glass, which you can see when it is turned over. It is made with very thick glass. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or coffee table. Use it as a catchall, jewelry or candy dish. Mid-century era. Measures 7 1/2" long x 7 1/4" wide x 2 3/4" tall.

Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
