18th Century Elegant French Louis XIV Hand Carved Tall Case Clock with Rooster

About the Item

Stunning and completely original, antique oak grandfather or lantern clock, circa 1750. This very old grandfather clock is one of the tallest we have ever seen and it has an amazingly elegant and slim design. It also features some of the most beautiful hand carved details we have ever seen, including a bonnet top with the finest carved flowers and leaves. The clock mechanism is kept in motion by the two large antique weights and it runs perfectly. This French clock is the original one to this tall case antique and it has been completely checked and cleaned up. It runs for 1-day (or rather 36 hours), it still keeps time perfectly and it strikes on the hour and half hours. Have you also noticed the enameled metal numbers on the dial face? Just like the wrought iron hands they are all original and in superb condition. On top of this clock mechanism is a proud, brass rooster. This of course is THE iconic symbol of France! This truly stylish and all handcrafted, large tall case clock also comes with the original glass panels and this 18th century work of beauty also has a very rich patina. The original pendulum and the two weights make it run very smoothly with a low-noise tic-toc and it strikes a clear bell on the whole hours and once on the half hours. If you can already imagine this amazing antique standing in your entry hall or library then maybe you should be its next custodian. This grand antique certainly deserves to be and belongs in a good home. This unique clock too is great value for money. Especially since perfect packing and worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 days are complimentary. Maximum height x width x depth 104 x 17 x 11 inches.
