Dry-Edged Figure of a Ewe, Derby Porcelain Works, circa 1752
About the Item
Derby was able to produce exceptional work, and these vases are a brilliant example of what they were capable of, when making for the top of the market. The body, the modeling, and the painting are all examples of the very best English porcelain of the period.
Strictly speaking, these are a matched pair, as the gilding is different on the two vases; but the shape, height and subject matter all agree and they work together beautifully.
