19th Century Glazed Ceramic Bust of a Boy by Cantagalli, Florence, Italy

About the Item

Exceedingly charming ceramic 'Busto di Bambino' in the Italian Renaissance style. With the blue and white glaze typical of artist Andrea Della Robbia, this bust is modeled after the marble original by Fifteenth century Italian master, Desiderio da Settignano. Quite life-like, this piece has presence. Listed in Album Della Robbia, Figli di Guiseppe Cantagalli as number 260, 1899. Signed with both a stamp, Cantagalli, Firenze, and the Classic hand painted rooster, or 'gallo'.
