Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Combination Vinaigrette / Scent Bottle, 1873

An exceptional, fine and impressive, large English sterling silver combination vinaigrette / scent bottle, antique Victorian; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination vinaigrette / scent bottle is realistically modelled in the form of a curved hunting horn. The large body of the horn and cover of the scent are embellished with applied plain broad girdles, which provide anchor points for the original link chain. The 'mouth piece' end of the horn retains the original hallmarked screw fit cover to the Victorian silver scent bottle. The 'bell' of the horn is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover, which when opened reveals the vinaigrette with the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated bordered scroll and leaf design. The decoration to the grille incorporates the maker's details's Mordan & Co, London in addition to a 'lozenge mark' which certifies the patent of this piece on 22nd June 1870 with the UK Patent Office. This antique sterling silver combination vinaigrette / scent bottle, which is a large example of its type, was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Sampson Mordan & Co. Condition: This combination Victorian silver scent bottle / vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks to the surface of the body and part hallmarks, including registration lozenge to the interior of the vinaigrette cover, hinged grille and anterior surface of the scent bottle cover are all clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine example of Victorian silverware.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique French import sterling silver and enamel combination scent bottle and compact with mirror; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection This exceptional antique enamel and sterling silver gilt compact mirror and scent bottle has a circular rounded form. The anterior and posterior surfaces of the body are embellished with pale blue guilloche enamel, which reflects undulating concentric ring designs emanating from the centres. The circular guilloche panels are encompassed with a chamfered borders ornamented with fine black hot enamel and incorporating stylised gilt silver leaf motifs. This exceptional antique compact is fitted with a hinged cover, featuring a gold wreath design to the centre of the enamel panel and incorporating a rounded thumbpiece to the anterior surface. This impressive compact opens to reveal the original integrated mirror and powder pad, in addition to the original gilded interior.
