Antique Topographical Derby English Porcelain Plate Entitled 'Near Derby'

About the Item

A fine antique 19th century Derby hard paste porcelain plate. Decorated with a hand painted topographical scene to its center. The scene depicts a bucolic landscape 'Near Derby' in a gilt cartouche and surrounded by a gilt cornucopia design. The rim of the plate is also gilded. Simply a wonderful early English porcelain plate! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition details: There is a small tag on the rim's edge from the firing, some bleeding through of black spots through the glaze from the firing (particularly to the back of the plate), noticeable rubbing to the gold, a hairline and some glaze wear to the foot rim, some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Derby Marks: The reverse of the plate bears a red Derby factory mark and an inscription reading 'Near Derby' Measurements: Width: ca. 8 7/8 in. Depth: ca. 9 1/8 in. Height: ca. 1 1/4 in.
