Luneville French Faïence Majolica Asparagus And Shell Plate, circa 1890

About the Item

A French barbotine Majolica Asparagus plate attributed to Lunéville K & G (Keller et Guerin) – Circa 1890. Luneville Faience is one of the most well known French potteries, located in Lunéville, Lorraine, France since 1730. Ribboned, upright purple tipped asparagus spears form the upper portion of the plate, French blue scrolled acanthus leaves separate the spears from two shell form wells, one for sauce, the other for waste. The shells are edged in a deep ochre. Reference: pg. 20, Artichauts et Asperges en Barbotine, Maryse Bottero 10 in. Dia. x 1.25 in. H Excellent antique condition.
