Rare Mason's Ironstone Graduated Set of 4 Jugs or Pitchers Flower Box Ptn C 1840

US$2,183.02per set

About

This is a very rare set of four graduated jugs or pitchers by Mason's Ironstone pottery in the flower box pattern all dating to the mid-19th century, circa 1830-1851 Victorian period. The jugs are all potted in one of Mason's Classic Jug shapes with loop handles and a beautiful ochre glaze. The jugs are decorated in the oriental pattern called "FLOWER BOX" on a beige or ochre ground with a floral pattern in typical enamels. This is a fully classified Masons pattern as illustrated on page 113 of "A Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone Patterns" recently published by The Mason's Collector's Club.  All the jugs have a black under-glaze printed mark with Mason's above an angular crown, dating them to 1830-1851. Overall a beautiful set of Mason's jugs or pitchers in a rare shape and pattern. Original graduated sets like this are very rare and hard to find.
