18th Century Chinese Export Porcelain Bowl with Chinese Domestic Furniture

About the Item

Chinese Export Famille Rose porcelain bowl with Chinese "Antiques" & Scholar's items on Furniture, Qianlong Period, circa 1735-1740. The Chinese Export porcelain bowl is finely painted inside and out with famille rose enamels. On the front is a depiction of an unusual grouping of Chinese domestic furniture with a large sofa in the center decorated with precious objects on the seat with a marble-topped table to one side with a marble urn holding flowers and, to the other side, another side table with a box on top with a smaller stand behind it. A garden seat is placed on the ground too. On the reverse is a painted bronze urn filled with a large grouping of flower stems cascading out and filling the space around the urn. In the open space between the two paintings are grouping, to either side, of different furniture surmounted by urns filled with flowers or plants. The interior of the bowl is fully painted with an urn holding flowers and there is a second urn with flowers and another garden seat. Dimensions: 9 inches in diameter x 4 inches high.     Chinese export porcelain bacchus mug after Derby Porcelain, circa 1785. The Chinese Export porcelain mug is modeled after a Derby Porcelain original as the head of Bacchus, the face naturalistically & delicately enameled. The eyebrows, beard and hair picked out with lightly etched brown lines. Around his head is a garland of vine leaves enameled in green, the veins of the leaves well delineated in grey, the bunches of grapes in a rich purple. The "C" shaped handle is decorated with stylized vine leaves, the sides of the thick handle with gold lappets. Dimensions: 4 inches high Reference This type of mug was copied directly from a Derby original that dates to around 1780-1785 and was created by William Duesbury II (1763-97) when the company was known as William Duesbury & Co.
