Georgian Derby Trio Tea & Coffee Cup & Saucer Pattern 569, Puce Mark Circa 1795
About the Item
This is a good porcelain TRIO of a Tea Cup, Coffee Cup and saucer by the Derby factory, made during the George 111rd period, circa 1795.
The pieces are well potted in the Hamilton flute shape with 16 vertical facets.
The hand decoration is very well done, in a burnt orange & gold gilded pattern 569 showing a deep border of Vine Leaves, Grapes and Tendrils with scattered Sprigs of Vine Leaves & Grapes on all pieces, with gilt rims. The handles are also gilded to the outer part of the loop. This pattern is listed on Page 302 of John Twitchett's book on Derby Porcelain, published by the Antique Collectors' Club.
All three pieces are fully marked with the Derby Crown, crossed batons with "D" under, together with 569 (the pattern no.) below, all hand painted in puce, which indicates an early date of about 1795.
Overall a very good example of Derby porcelain.
