About the Item
A rarely seen wedgwood char dish, an Aesthetic Movement mold showing a pair of fish in a deep dish glazed to resemble tortoise shell. Char is a fresh-water member of the trout and salmon family, specific to the Lake District in the North of England. After the glacial waters of the last Ice Age receded, the arctic char became land-locked in Windermere. They are still caught on the lake today.
Impressed Wedgwood mark along with a three digit date code, the ‘G’ for the year 1878.
Dimenisons: 11.5 in. L x 7 in. W x 1.75 in. H
There is a stable age crack to one corner, as shown in the final photos.
