Carlo Scarpa for Venini Reticello Murano Glass Globe, Italy, circa 1940

About the Item

A hand blown glass globe / sphere with stunning reticello glass design, wiith brass stem and canopy. Designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, circa 1940. A charming scale with a striking presence and warm light. Re-wired for US market, requires one candelabra bulb. "Reticello" is an Italian decorative glassblowing technique, developed by the Venini glassblowing company in Murano. It involves the merging of two cane bubbles (one inside the other) in which the straight canes were twisted in opposite directions. Once merged, the opposingly twisted canes cross each other creating a net like pattern. By Carlo Scarpa, for Venini, circa 1940 Size: 27" high x 10" diameter
