Fine Ivory Background Antique Tabriz Benlian Rug

About the Item

Rugs of this type were commissioned by the Armenian-British Benlian company, which had a workshop active in Tabriz during the first half of the 20th Century specialising in weaving carpets based on classical Persianate patterns. These were woven with exacting standards, employing the finest grade of wool dyed in a range of extraordinary colours. The medallion design surrounded by scrolling palmettes on an ivory background represents a timeless classic, and one that is particularly useful for todays' interiors. Benlian Tabriz carpets are especially appreciated for their hard-wearing quality, and can sustain heavy traffic because of the tightly packed fine weave.
