Antique George III Style Demilune Satinwood Marquetry Cabinet

About the Item

George III satinwood and marquetry cabinet. Satinwood was used as the background for the delicate inlaid marquetry designs. Satinwood, from India, gains its distinctive soft and subtle patterning during the long drying season. The top of the cabinet is crossbanded with Kingwood and centers another display of marquetry. The cabinet front, with central tableau of quiver, flag, shield, flute and sword and having cupboard doors flanked by crossbanded panels. The piece inspired by the designs of George Hepplewhite published in his Iconic, “The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Guide”. The demilune cabinet is English and dates to 1890. Raised on spade legs. With a key. Measures: Height 38 1/2", length 53", depth 19 1/4" Condition: Overall condition is good with a few scratches on top and scrapes on the lower frame mentioned for accuracy as the cabinet presents exceptionally well.
