French 19th Century 1st Empire Crouch Mahogany and Fire Gilt Ormolu Cabinet

About the Item

A very handsome and high quality French early 19th century 1st Empire crouch mahogany and fire gilt ormolu cabinet, circa 1805. This impressive architectural cabinet is raised on a solid molded plinth. Above are two paneled doors decoroted with very impressive finely chased ormolu cariatides, flanked by pierced ormolu design elements. The doors have a keyhole escutcheon and open to reveal a interior shelf. The pair of doors above have the original hand blown glass fitted within crouch mahogany frames, and open to reveal four solid mahogany shelves. The glass doors are flanked by elegant columns with ormolu top and bottom caps. The wonderful top capitol is decorated with ormolu rosettes and foliate mounts. All original fire gilt and patina throughout.
