Teak Mid-Century Modern Wall Storage Bookcase Cabinet with Drop Front Desk
About the Item
Handsome Mid-Century Modern or Scandinavian Modern large wall storage cabinet and bookcase with a drop front desk in teak. It is in wonderful vintage condition but not without some signs of age appropriate wear. Please see photos, circa mid-20th to late 20th century.
You need a small desk. But you need storage. And a place for a few books or a place to show off some Studio Pottery or glass. Here it is. All in one piece! This Scandinavian style Mid-Century Modern wall unit, or sideboard or shrunk as I’ve seen others call it, is spectacular. It is comprised of teak and consists of a base unit and upper unit. The base portion with two drawers and three doored sections, one single and one double. The doors use a skeleton key for privacy and as the knob. The upper portion made up of various open and closed storage. Book or display is provided on a lower shelf with a sliding door that covers one half of the shelf at a time whether on the right, left, or in the middle. A locking drop front desk section which is lined in white laminate is provided in the top part along with three doored storage sections. Above the drop front desk is an open display or bookshelf. We all know this would be fabulous in a family room, living room, bedroom, den, or office but I can’t help but visualize integrating this fabulous piece in a kitchen. It has a newly modified recessed black painted base as it encountered water at some point in its life and could not be refinished so we revamped it and modified the base. It looks wonderful!! There are glass front double doors on the upper left side and a single glass front door on the right. Behind the upper doors is a wood shelf (the bottom of the upper cabinet, top of the lower) with plate grooves and two adjustable glass shelves that run the full length of the cabinet.
