1890's Victorian Antique Dunn & Co Designer Black Silk Plush Steampunk Top Hat

Gorgeous black silk plush original top hat dating back to the date 1890's. Dunn & Co. was founded in 1887 by George Arthur Dunn, who started by selling hats on the streets of Birmingham. Years later he had two hundred hat shops and as many franchises in other stores. These gradually developed into a string of high-end stores specialising in formal wear. This beautiful hat has been stunningly kept for its age. The silky soft black exterior shows no damage. Only sign of wear is a scratch mark on the interior brim which is not noticeable when worn. The interior ivory leather band is intact, firm and unblemished along with the inner silk lining that rises to the top. A rare piece of wearable fashion history!
