Liberty Couture Steel Blue Embroidered Silk Art Nouveau Draped Coat Cape, 1918

Liberty was one of the first designers to embrace the Art-Nouveau movement. The fashion house saw the need to make fashions that were more stylish, but at the same time keep classic aesthetics. The detailed construction and meticulous attention to detail in this garment are comparable to what you will find in modern haute-couture. Our extravagant coat retains the easy, unstructured comfort of a cape with a suggestion of sleeves. I adorable the breathtaking hand-embroidery and dramatic draped backside. The silk-velvet collar is the perfect textural accent! The beautiful steel-blue color works for all seasons. This magnificent antique jacket resonates powerfully today, not only because of its intrinsic beauty, but also because it is an important fashion artifact of the 1910's period. Measurements Bust:Free Hips:Free Total Length:42 inches This antique Liberty designer couture coat is in excellent condition with no serious rips, stains or holes. Fully silk-lined. This item is over 90 years old and is truly stunning! Wearable piece of fashion history.
