This charming 1950s italian tailor Jole Veneziani cocktail dress is in fabulous aqua green and purple novelty print shell cotton fabric. It's strapless and has a double circle skirt. The bodice is reinforced by a corset with boning and has back zip closure and hooks on the bodice and is all lined.

Jole Veneziani was born in Taranto, Puglia and moved to Milan in 1937, where she opened a fur atelier. The business soon expanded and in 1943 Jole opened an atelier,, which she named Atelier Veneziani. The immediate success of her designs made her move to Via Monte Napoleone in 1944 which soon became the meeting spot for the celebrities of the age. Though still ravaged by war, Italy became a melting pot of cultures and influences, moulding its artistic and fashion credentials. Soon its fashion began attracting fashionable celebrities of the age from Marlene Dietrich, Maria Callas and Anna Proclemer as well as home grown beauties like Lucia Bosè and Franca Rame.
