Mollie Parnis Emerald Green Mock Neck Sequin Dress, 1960s

About the Item

Gaining commercial success in the 1940s, Mollie Parnis was an early American designer who was greatly revered for her chic yet conservative looks as well as one of the earliest American designers to sell her garments under her own label. Her success boomed in the 50s and 60s with her designs being donned by multiple First Ladies, and particularly adored by Lady Bird Johnson. Made in a sequins-covered, Kelly green lurex, this dress is presumable from the mid-1960s. From the mock neck, a smooth, close fit around the shoulders moves down into a slight flutter sleeve that adds an extra touch of diva to this dazzling dress. It is slightly fitted though the waist and gently falls from the hip to an ankle length hemline with controlled flounces. Although a simple silhouette, this vintage Mollie Parnis dress speaks volumes and is the perfect spotlight piece for a party or event. Size estimate: Small Shoulders: 16 inches Sleeves: 23.5 inches Bust: 34 inches Waist: 28 inches Hips: 35 inches Length: 54 inches Unlined, this dress closes at the back with a centered zip and hooks-and-eyes at the neck. In excellent condition, this dress has been professionally eco dry cleaned and pressed. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.

Givenchy Silk Green Cherry Print Cocktail Dress, 1980s
By Givenchy
Located in Boca Raton, FL
Best known for his high-end, feminine silhouettes, haute couture designer Givenchy rose to international acclaim during the 1960s by creating his signature looks for actress Audrey Hepburn. Maintaining a classic romantic elegance to his designs, Givenchy began experimenting with bolder colors and pattern options around the 1980s. This dress is made from a vivid green silk that has red-violet cherries throughout. Satin spots add intermittent luster throughout. A modest neckline rounds into slightly gathered short sleeves as classic silhouette evokes Givenchy’s traditional style. The skirt includes an overlay that is hemmed with a sweeping ruffle that adds some playfulness to match the print. An excellent vintage piece, this dress can easily be worn as a casual day dress...
