Erès-Inspired Peach Silk Charmeuse Open Back Step-In Teddy Bodysuit– M, 1930s

About the Item

Before the days of separate bras and panties, “step-ins” or “singlettes”—precursors of the modern teddy—were the perfect undergarment beneath the sleek bias cut dresses of the 1930s. Devoid of any lace or trimming, this version reminds us of the minimalist designs of Erès and even features their alluring backless cut, perfect for wearing to bed or beneath slim-fitting dresses. Peach charmeuse step-in with adjustable shoulder straps and hooking elastic band at upper back; elastic rear waistband. Scalloped edges and unlined buttoning crotch opening. Bust lined in peach net; otherwise unlined. fabric: silk charmeuse noteworthy: hand washable in cold water; lay flat to dry alterations: none condition: excellent with light slackening to rear waistband elastic, but no deterioration measurements: shoulder straps: adjustable to 14” maximum length bust: 36” (unstretched) waist: 28” (unstretched) hips: to 42” leg opening: 25” circumference length: 28” from center sternum to crotch opening* label: no label present size: no size label present; comparable to modern size medium *please note lingerie of this type was worn very loosely around the hips and purposely hung low in the crotch; this is not a defect or the result of overstretching.
