About the Item

C.1960 pale blue linen dress and jacket ensemble with surprise beading at the interior lining of the jacket. The form fitting dress has a 'wiggle' silhouette with a modified scoop back. It zips and hooks at the back with a coordinating belt at the fitted waist and hidden side pockets. The jacket has an open front and tab collar with a luxurious silk charmeuse lining and ornate beading which includes sparkling rhinestones, silver beads and faux pearl beads. The unexpected bling provides a glamorous style to an ultra feminine daytime look and overall the ensemble is reminiscent of an Alfred Hitchcock heroine. The ensemble was made under the 'Junior Sophisticates Original' label and was most likely designed by Anne Klein in the early part of her career before she went on to establish her own label. CONDITION Good condition with a couple of missing rhinestones as shown in photograph 15. The inside of the jacket collar shows a subtle discoloration as shown in photograph 16. Overall the ensemble makes a great appearance. Professionally cleaned and ready for wear. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is not marked though the dress best fits U.S. size 2 with attention to the following measurements. For visual reference, the mannequin is a size 4 and proved to be too large to fully zip the dress or to accommodate the belt. Please note the dress is shown partially unzipped in photograph 12 though the zipper works fine.
