1980’s clear vinyl ‘Flashbags’ tote handbag by Italian design duo, Avant de Dormir. The clear vinyl serves as a clever window to a mix of a dinner ingredients … pasta, tomatoes, garlic and parsley. Just a touch of surrealism for this fashion recipe. Double handles allow for an easy carry and the generous interior is perfect for toting lots of stuff. Marked with designer name at the side and accompanied by the original string tag. Fun and fashionable facts… Avant de Dormir was commissioned by Warner Records to produce a promotional Flashbag for the album release of Prince’s Purple Rain, an example of which is now in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum. And if that wasn’t enough … . the tote came from the Atlanta estate of a fashionable woman who once lived in Hollywood and worked for Lucille Ball and Desilu Productions. She obviously had a sense of humor! CONDITION Good condition. Previously owned though new with tag. There are some pink marks on one of the handles as shown in photograph 11. They do not really show up in person but stood out in the photographs. MEASUREMENTS The body of the handbag measures 15.5” wide x 12” tall x 4” deep. Each handle measures 23” from end to end providing for a 11” drop.
