Ancient China "Year of Pig" Jade Pendant, Eastern Han Dynasty, 25-206 AD

About

2019 is the Year of the Pig! This is an authentic Chinese ancient jade pig pendant from the Eastern Han dynasty (25-220 AD). This comes from an old New York private collection. Dimensions: 4.12inches length and 1 inch high. There is ample evidence of original and ancient calcification, polishing and surface encrustation. Jades from this period are handmade, engraved using metal tools which were available at that time, and then hand polished. This type of polished jade item was created for important wealthy individuals including royalty. We guarantee authenticity. We will include: In addition, our jades have been authenticated by Mr. Gu Fang, Senior Fellow at the Centre of Jadeology and Jade Culture in Beijing, (see photo ) What is special about Year of the Pig: 2019 is the 12th year in the zodiac and this is an Earth Pig year. Years of the Pig include 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, and 2031. Lucky numbers: 2, 5, 8, and numbers containing them (like 25 and 58) Lucky days: the 17th and 24th of every Chinese lunar month Lucky colors: yellow, gray, brown, gold Lucky flowers: hydrangea and daisy Lucky direction: east and southwest Lucky months: the 2nd, 7th, 10th, and 11th Chinese lunar months Today ancient jades are emblematic of power, status and privileged classes and offer more complex, varied meaning.
