About the Item

A lovely Qianlong rooster plate. With a very unsual scene of the Roosters hunting a grasshopper. Very nice. Condition some chips/frits to rim, chips mainly visible underside rim. Size 221x27mm high Period 18th century Qing (1661 - 1912).

The cylindrical body with lobe shaped open panels, decorated overall with cobalt blue vinery interspersed with flowerheads, lotus blossoms, fishes and shells, the rim encircled with wave motifs and bearing remnants of an old export paper label. The base decorated with a running band of lotus-petal motifs, the underside showing remnants of a wax export office seal and Kangxi style blue character marks for Kangxi Nian Zhi.
