Blue and Pink Chinese Enamelled Porcelain Ginger Lidded Jar, Famille Rose

About the Item

A large and very striking hand-painted lidded pot in Straits porcelain, featuring a vibrant cobalt-blue background with profusely detailed enamelled foliage and 'Famille Rose' (or Fencai) motifs in a colourful palette. The base features a stylised border in green and yellow, while the sides of the wide and close-fitting lid are painted with a'Greek Key' style band in matching colours. The jar dates from the second half of the twentieth century and displays a stamped maker's mark on its base.
