Chinese Celadon Crackle Porcelain Bowl / Centerpiece
About the Item
A Fabulous Chinese Celadon Crackle Porcelain Bowl/Centerpiece. This celadon glazed curved edge bowl, hails from the esteemed Qing Dynasty. This remarkable artifact boasts an impressive diameter of 16 inches and enthralls its viewer with its masterful artisanship. Every inch of its surface is adorned with a flawlessly even and glossy celadon glaze, embellished with captivating crackling patterns that augment its allure. Among the most revered and coveted variations of celadon, one finds delicate pale greens, evoking the mesmerizing verdant tones reminiscent of pale jade. This enchanting palette owes its creation to the presence of iron oxide in either the glaze composition or the clay body, which facilitates the desired chromatic transformations. Significantly, celadons are predominantly fired in kilns that maintain a reducing atmosphere, as it is through the accompanying chemical reactions resulting from the reduction of free oxygen in the iron oxide that the desired colors are achieved.
The elegantly curved edges of this dish gently taper, culminating in an inward facing lip that exudes refinement. Its exquisite pale mint green glaze is further enhanced by the presence of prominent and substantial crackles, imbuing an alluring contrast in the form of black and rust red tones.
