About

This elegant, phoenix tail form dates to China’s bronze age, but the vase was made in 1920 in China's Zhejiang Province. It has a lovely persimmon and gilt finish and is decorated with auspicious cranes. When this unique jar was made the world was in the middle of a new artistic movement called Art Deco, it combined many different motifs, including the exotic styles of ancient Egypt, India, and especially China. This design arose from that movement, but also has ancient origins that inspired deco artists.
