Japanese Hand-Painted Massive Imari Porcelain Vase by Master Artist

This unique one-of-a-kind contemporary vase, hand-painted on a massive porcelain body with an astonishingly beautiful shape, is a signed masterpiece by Fujii Katsuma, highly acclaimed award-winning Japanese master porcelain artist of the historic Imari-Arita region of Japan. Fujii Katsuma has perfected the polychrome overglaze technique to create porcelain pieces with stunning colors. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his extraordinary porcelain work and his contributions to this centuries old art. Fujii's signature style is a refreshing interpretation of traditional polychrome overglaze enameling techniques and motifs decorating porcelain over clear glaze. Inspired by nature, he creates a dramatic landscape on porcelain with flowers coming alive. His painstaking “drip painting” technique is designed to bring a subtly raised, three-dimensional feel to motifs that are expressed in bold vibrant colors. This intricately hand-painted porcelain vase, impressive in size, with its pure white background characteristic of Arita’s finest porcelain, provides an ideal background for a gorgeous and elegant weeping cherry tree in dark blue. The aged and weathered branches reach up through the flared neck to show off the full bloom of cherry blossoms in orange, purple and gold. The flared scalloped neck, the rim and the base of the vase are decorated with detailed patterns, with flowers in bright orange bringing an element of brightness to this piece. This exquisite shape accompanied by the impressive size and the attractive pattern of the vase, make this a truly exceptional piece. This piece comes in a custom-made wooden box with the artist’s signature.
