This captivating contemporary porcelain vase, hand-painted on fine porcelain in black with mesmerizing hydrangeas in vivid pink, is the signed work of Kinsai, widely acclaimed master porcelain artist in the Imari-Arita style. Kinsai is the recipient of numerous awards for his exceptional porcelain work and his unique gold and platinum work on porcelain. Cherry blossoms in vibrant shades of pink with intricate gold details on each petal encircle the black canvas of this gorgeously shaped porcelain vase. Clumps of blossoms hang from branches with leaves presented in a beautiful green and generously outlined with gold. Kinsai literally means “fired-on gold.” The name highlights unique techniques for incorporating gold and platinum into the hand painting and multiple firing processes that yield a stunningly opulent look. The polychrome overglaze is fired at 800 degrees, followed by the application of gold and platinum that are fired at slightly lower temperature to maintain the luster of the precious metals. As a result, a single piece may undergo as many as five-ten firings. This piece comes with a custom-made wooden box signed by the artist.
