Imari Porcelain Charger-Four Hand Painted Panels-Japan, Meiji Period, 17.75"

About the Item

Large Imari Meiji period four panel charger entirely hand decorated. Two of the panels depict flying cranes amongst foliage. The remaining two panels are hand decorated with a floral motif. The center medallion has iron red flowers and cobalt blue leaves. The decorations are done with an underglaze blue and overpainted with iron red, green, and gold enamels. The reverse has some decoration in an underglaze blue and an incised signature in the center (see photo). Diameter-17.75"
