Large pair Antique Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Baluster vases. Early 20th century pair of large Chinese Famille Rose porcelain vases converted to table lamps. These vases are considered to be amongst the most exquisite. Famille Rose has a very refined paste producing fine grained porcelain. It has a luminous and slightly blue glaze. The vases are decorated with enamels of great purity. They picture scholars in a garden holding a scroll. On the back side are multiple line inscriptions. Innovative artisans incorporated calligraphy into the pictorial decoration and it is considered a significant art form. Condition is very good. Vases are mounted on carved hardwood bases. Brass fittings with a single socket. Minor wear to vases. Sold as a set of 2. Measurements: Height 18” Overall Height 35” Diameter 8 ½” Weight: 9 ½ lbs. each.
