Late 19th Century Chinese Blackwood 'Hongmu' Tea Table
About the Item
Beautiful proportioned Chinese Blackwood (Hongmu) tea table. The Blackwood on this table is dark brown in color. Hongmu typically has more of a reddish hue, and the dark hue is more desirable. This table is constructed with traditional Chinese mortise and tenon joinery and designed with clean geometric lines. It’s from the Shanxi province of China. The lower shelf has a side that has bowed out slightly during this lifetime (see photos).
