American Empire Mahogany and Marble Classical Console, NY, circa 1825

About the Item

An American ‘Federal’ console with a mirrored back in well figured ‘crotch’ mahogany with white marble front columns and matching white marble pilasters to the rear, with gold leaf capitals, and feet. The white marble top with a light green band is new. The gold leaf at the foot and top of the marble columns and pilasters has also been recently refreshed as was the French polish. A very similar console exists in one of the cross halls in the White House. Refer to Photo gallery

A Louis XV period Dutch mahogany armoire and chest of drawers that in its time would have been used as a linen press.
