Antique Chinese Lacquered Yumu Wood Side Chair with Hand-Carved Décor

$1,399

About

A hand-carved Chinese yumu wood accent chair from the early 20th century, with dark brown lacquer finish, fretwork motifs and carved splat. This exquisite Chinese side chair features a rectangular pierced back with undulating crest, adorned with a central splat adorned with hand-carved motifs. A geometrical shelf is supporting two traditional vases with floral motifs. While the décor is nicely detailed, one cannot but be touched by the purity of the execution. A rectangular planked seat is raised on four straight legs with delicately curved skirts, connected to one another through a cross stretcher. The result is an elegant Chinese early 20th century lacquered side chair, whose graceful silhouette and beautifully carved décor will bring an exotic touch to any home, whether placed in a foyer, hallway, living room or bedroom.
