Chinese Woven Top Fang Deng Stool, c. 1900

About the Item

The fang deng, or square stool, form was popular for its simplicity and utility in the home. The simple legs, stacked edging, sinuous braces, and rattan top make this a particularly unique example. The timeworn finish combines with rattan and original wood grain to provide a spectrum of tones and textures. Originally used as a seat in a traditional Chinese home, this stool lives on as a unique side or accent table in the modern home. Additional Dimensions Table apron to floor: 15"
