Early 20th Century Carved Cabinet from Fujian, China

About the Item

An early 20th century carved 2-tier cabinet from Fujian province, China. The carvings on the front are mostly through carvings, which are carved very deep and lively, featuring human characters as well as various animals. The oval panels on the top doors are surrounded by relief carvings of phoenix & peonies (a very auspicious combination) and magpies. The brass handles are all original, although some of the round base plates and one drawer pull are missing, these can be replaced upon request with new ones of similar design. This cabinet is predominantly made of Fir wood, with the carved portions made of Camphor wood. Overall, a very handsome piece with beautiful old red colour and patina.
