About the Item

Here's a rare find and your opportunity from a collector source that assists us in finding unusual works from Japan. A very unusual treasure.... This is an original wooden carpentry tansu (chest) full of old and antique Japanese professional carpenter's carving and chisel tools, including fine tataki nomi timber tempered steel chisels, dating back to the early 1900s, 51 pieces in all. The chest includes like new and used examples some very sharp and some still bearing the original branded old Japanese manufacturer name and label. Most have quality red oak handles. However of special interest are the early black ebony wooden handled examples- quite hard to locate today. (see lower left of main photo) Large and small fine tools included. 51 different in all including a long iron tool. The original old five drawer tansu wooden chest included. Longest tool is 12 inches long and shortest is 5.5 inches in length. The tansu measures 20 inches tall and 14 inches wide and 14 inches deep Unique offering. Only one tansu is currently available This quality and quantity rarely seen or offered.
