Kimono Art / Japanese Wall Art / “Peony Bridge”

About the Item

We are proud to present this work of art made from orange silk-based kimono obi. The first thing that catches the eye in this obi is the colorful peony flower. Peonies, also known as "the king of all flowers," were loved by Yang Gui Fei, one of the world's three most beautiful women for their beauty. In the language of flowers, peony is associated with “nobility” and “royalty”. Peony has been favored as a gift as a flower that brings prosperity and happiness to families. The peony flower is represented by knotting white, brown, dark brown, beige, green, blue, and red silk threads one by one. The pattern around the peony is called a RYUSUI pattern. The RYUSUI pattern is one of the few patterns that depicts the way flowing water disappears in an instant without ever stopping. It is a representative of a good omen, as flowing water is always pure and never muddy, and it carries away hardships and misfortunes.
