About the Item
A large garment robe display rack from Northern China, circa late 19th century toward the end of Qing Dynasty Made of elm wood and finished in a deep red lacquer that still allow the visibility of the wood grains, the stand was traditional used to display large garment and dragon robes and could service as a screen as well. The rack was constructed in the classic form from late Qing dynasty that features elaborate craving. Two phoenix-head finials with scrolling brackets were placed at both ends. Three wood panels, each with detailed carving, were in the center. The two flanking panel showcase the character of "double happiness" and "Longevity".
