Pair of Japanese wood Shokudai with chrysanthemum shaped base, brass prickets and gold leaf Shokudai or candlesticks are prevalent in homes and temples during the Meiji period and were necessary for illumination . At present they are still in use but more for aesthetic value than necessity. This pair is elegant and good condition.
