Rare Extra-Large 19th Century Chinese Painted Leather Trunk

About the Item

This extremely large Qing Dynasty leather trunk is beautifully painted with a tradition Chinese landscape scene over the oxblood color painted leather. The interior top is painted as well with a Chinese garden scene. The trunk is constructed in leather and hand painted, which is then finished with lacquer. Brass hardware is used for the front latch, handles, hinges, and fasteners. The extremely large size trunk was once used to store robes and coats.
