About the Item
A well crafted early 20th Century Traditional Japanese clothing chest originally acquired in San Francisco in the late 1960’s. Fashioned from Asian Pine with hand-wrought Iron pulls in traditional form and Disc form escutcheons. The Chest with one long top drawer over two shorter drawers with a long drawer on the bottom. On the right side a short drawer over a door with elaborate decorative Iron work which opens to reveal two small drawers. There are Iron corner guards on the front left side edge and a carry handle on each top side. Lacking a key.
Dimensions: 35.25” wide by 21.25” deep by 33” high.
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age and use include a timeworn age patina with various expected scratches, nicks, impressions, edge chips and general wear. The Tansu is lacking a key and one of the lift pulls on the side is present but not connected when pulled up. Despite the wear which is noted for accuracy, the Chest presents in an authentic and desirable Japanese manner.
