A very well made good looking and decorative piece, this is pure art furniture and it looks expensive important and stylish from any angle, the gilt finish and lacquer work is sublime, this really is a very special piece I have copied the details from the V&A, here's what they say Black lacquered furniture painted in gold had been produced at Canton since the 16th century. It was inspired by Japanese lacquer, and much furniture in this style was produced in Canton for export to Europe from about 1720. This chair may therefore have been made in one of the Canton workshops. The surface decoration, the vertical back and the very wide seat are typical features of Qing dynasty (1644-1911) lacquered furniture. This piece is in excellent condition throughout with a lovely honest patina. Dimensions Height:- 103cm seat height 54.5cm Width:- 65cm Depth:- 51cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements, please ask. Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
