Chinese Red Lacquer & Brass Side Table Removable Ice Chest Style Hoof Foot Base

About the Item

Handsome Chinese red lacquer and brass ice chest, planter, accent table with galvanized insert and lid on hoof foot style removable base. This piece is in wonderful vintage condition with a very nice age patina. One leg has a little more patina than the rest but not unattractive. Please see photos, circa 1960s. This is a fabulous unique item from our private collection that we have decided someone else needs to enjoy. We have used this chinoiserie piece as an accent side table-trash bin. Through research it appears this lovely piece was originally an Asian ice chest of some sort and this one is circa 1960s. Comprised of a Chinese red lacquered hooved Asian style square base with a removable trapezoid shaped box adorned with bands of brass faux bamboo and incredible brass Asian styled handles to lift it from the base. The chest or box has a removable galvanized insert and is topped by a pair of removable hinge-less doors with an open carved circular Oriental style design in the centre, half on each door, which acts as handles. Its beautiful; unusual; versatile in style and use; and sure to be a source of visual joy! You just need to make it your own. Measure: Table-chest: O/A height – 22 inches O/A width – 15.75 inches O/A depth – 15.5 inches Chest size – 15.75 W x 15.5 D x 13.5 H inches Base size – 14 W x 14 D x 9 H inches Insert size – 14 W x 13.5 D x 12 H inches Lid size – 14 W x 7 D x .5 inches x 2 Weight – 27.4 Pounds all Boxed size: Height – 30 inches. By Brunswick Co., Burke, Inc.
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome vintage MCM (a.k.a.) Mid-Century Modern Burke Division for Brunswick Tulip side table style of Eero Saarinen comprised of a wood grain laminate top with back beveled edge and a dark charcoal painted aluminum pedestal base. The Burke for Brunswick label is on the underside of the tabletop covered by the pedestal tulip base. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been restored or refinished. Specifically, we have filled some dings in the back beveled edge and repainted. There is a scrape on the foot of the pedestal base, but we chose not to fill & paint but to leave it original. There are also some “glossy” flecks in the faux wood top even after applying Lexol Please see photos and zoom in for details as these are part of condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960-1970’s. “Tiptoe through the tulips with me…” Did we get you singing? Well, this table is definitely worth singing about!
