About the Item

A good antique Chinese Zhou dynasty style archaistic bronze censer, incense burner. This cast bronze censer is in the archaic Zhou dynasty style, but believed to be more likely from the Ming dynasty. The shallow oval shaped censer with zoomorphic handles modelled with the heads of mythical beasts, the body of the censer is decorated with typical archaistic designs. The censer having a panel of sixteen Chinese characters to the front and a panel to the verso with four characters, The censer stands of four lobed feet and to the underside is a four character mark.
