Japanese Meiji Period Koi Carp Bronze Box
About the Item
Japanese meiji period mixed metal box. The box formed in a kidney shape decorated with swimming koi carp fish throughout. Each koi with intricate detailing with gold splash accents and realistic scales swimming in lifelike poses with rippling water effects to the box.
Notes Koi Carp are known to swim against the current and overcome great obstacles, koi symbolise strength, courage, patience, and success through perseverance. As koi can grow very large and live a long life, they have become a symbol of prosperity and good luck.
