About the Item

Pair of vases decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamels on a midnight blue ground, worked in silver and gold thread attributed to Hayashi Kodenji. The hexagonal body depicts sparrows in flight and perched on bamboo branches. The base and upper neck are ornamented with double bands decorated with trefoils and symmetrical continuous scrolls. Work published in the volume "Selection 2024. Unsigned Height:15.5 cm Meiji, c. 1900.
