Tribal Ladder for Dogon

About the Item

A mounted Dogon ladder carved from a single hardwood log, having nine (9) steps and a split top. Traditionally used by the Dogon (Mali) to access their homes which were built into the sides of sandstone cliffs, early 20th century.
