Japanese Edo Six-Panel Screen Seasonal Winter Landscape

$16,000

About

Early 18th century Japanese Edo period six-panel screen depicting a seasonal winter landscape. The idyllic scene features ducks and birds with flowers of fall and winter by water’s edge. Beautifully crafted with ink and natural color pigments on mulberry paper. The scene and sky are embellished with gold leaf clouds and gold flecks. Made in the Kano school style and set in a lacquered frame. The border is silk brocade with a fascinating teal green color that seems to accentuate all the green tones in the painting and compliment the gold. Amazing screen to view in person.
